Chinstrap Penguin colony on Aitcho Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Fine Art Photography Prints for Sale

Chinstrap penguins, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica - Image: ANT7652P3L

Title: View for a chinstrap

Location: Aitcho Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica

Code: ANT7652P3L

Portfolio Type: Limited Edition Fine Art Portfolio

This Chinstrap penguin colony was photographed on Aitcho island in the South Shetland Islands. I was down on my stomach so that I could get the massive iceberg in the background. The funny thing about these Chinstrap penguins is that they build their nests out of rocks, due to the difficulty of finding enough, the Chinstraps resort to stealing the rocks from other nest. This leads to a comical behavior of stealing other rocks while trying to protect yours. As you can imagine there are a lot of squabbles that occur.
