It was another early start in Arches National Park, I’d park the car and was making my way to the base of Tower of Babel, the torchlight was helping me pick my way through the scrub, being careful not to tread on the flora, as this is a very delicate environment, even though it looks as tough as nails. I was doing fine and on time to get to my location before the predawn light showed, suddenly I came across natures version of touch as nails, it was a huge cluster of cactuses, no more then a foot high but I sure wasn’t going to go through it. I scanned the torch from left to right trying to get an idea of the size of this barracked, and once again thanked myself for the for site in purchasing a really powerful LED light for this trip. I could see a way around it and off I went again.

Coming to the base of Tower of Babel I now had another tricky path to take, it was what had brought me here in the first place, a beautiful area of blown sand, a desert sand dune, up against the rock face. What was tricky here was not to get footprints in the sand for I might want to this area in the photographs. So this meant I had to take a wide berth around the sand dune and come up at the back of it where in was stopped by Tower of Babel’s rock face. From there I had to move slowly and deliberately, constantly scanning the terrain for a shooting angle up towards Park Avenue, as this was the image that I had come here to try and capture, not the dune up against the Tower of Babel.

With patience and a lot of trial and error I found a couple of the angles to photograph and set myself up for the coming of the dawn.

As you be aware in the shot, I’m actually photographing at the bottom of Park Avenue, up through the canyons that would eventually take you to the classic viewing area of Park Avenue.

  • "The One" Fine Art Portfolio

“The One“ Fine Art Portfolio imagery has an edition size of one, there is only one hand signed print in existence. The image can be reproduced in my Gift Collection product range, but no larger than a 10 x 10inch surface area in size. Gift Collection products, such as the Fine Art Mini print, actively promote the existence of ”The One” imagery and help increase their popularity and potential value. They also act as a preview for customers looking at purchasing ”The One” imagery.

“The One” imagery is printed on the most archivally stable media at the time, but they can be reprinted onto a different media or to a different size, at any time by the purchaser, once the current print media is destroyed, this ensures that there is only one print in existence at any one time. Being able to reprint the image at any time overcomes the issues of fading, as all artworks fade, and of accidental damage. This enables “The One” imagery to be passed down through countless generations. For further information on "The One" Fine Art Portfolio see this link below “The Different Portfolio’s”.
